Is My SmartPhone Hurting Me?

Jean Twenge's article was describing the harmful effects of mobile phones on teenagers. As for Sara Cavanagh, she explained that phones do not destroy our lives and do not affect them in a significant negative way. She was of the opinion that phones, like any other thing, have their advantages and disadvantages equally as anything else. Twenge says that social networking software and phones are linked to depression in teens. On the other hand, Cavanagh believes that Tong is exaggeratedly focusing on the negatives. But they also shared the same views on several points, such as that the phone should be used reasonably. "moderate use of digital technology is not intrinsically harmful and may be advantageous in a connected world." In all cases, we cannot deny the advantages of phones, despite all their disadvantages, as they have made our lives easier and helped us to communicate more. For example, I communicate with my family in Egypt and in the Netherlands by phone, using applications that allowed me to do a video call to check on their condition.

I remember the first phone I got was a Nokia when I was in the eighth grade of middle school. And because the phone has simple capabilities, it did not affect my grades at school or my meeting with my friends after school on a daily basis to play soccer. I can do without the phone for a day. And I don't have a problem, I just use it to connect with family and friends. At the same time I don't leave myself more time to distract myself from my goals in life. Using the phone depends on us. Some people waste a lot of time on it, and some people handle it smartly. We have to be in control of every detail of our lives, and the phone is definitely part of that. As for the information we receive about the phone, I see that it depends on your use of it and depends on the use of the children of the authors of the articles. For example, I don't care much about the phone, while one of my friends gives it all his free time. Of course, if my friend's father wrote about the phone, he would only talk about the disadvantages. Therefore, we should be aware of bias in the articles. We see if it applies to us or not before believing everything we read.
