Station Eleven (CHAPTERS 27-41)
1-
“After I was shot, when they told me I wouldn’t walk again and I was lying in the hospital, I spent a lot of time thinking about civilization. What it means and what I value in it. I remember thinking that I never wanted to see a war zone again, as long as I live. I still don’t.” (chapter 32)
I loved this clip because it reminded me of the first day I heard gunfire in America, especially since I'm not used to hearing gunshots. So, I thought for a moment about American civilization, which lacks a sense of security for its citizens and residents.
“I love watching old movies. I watch the faces of long-dead actors on the screen, and I think about how they’ll never truly die.” (Chapter 34)
I liked this paragraph because it reminded me of my mother. My mother always loves to watch old movies. I remember once asking her why do you watches old movies, and she told me those movies hold flashbacks and memories.
2-
After our discussion, my group and I decided to write an essay about volcanoes and how they affect the environment, people, and the climate.
3-
Before the collapse, Jeevan was remembering himself, his family, and his sentimental moments. He was able to continue moving forward by holding onto both himself and those priceless memories. He is battling the past that will one day be forgotten in an effort to preserve the human element of himself that existed before the collapse of the present.
I believe that memories can give people a positive, yet not forced, feeling. Mandel introduced the concept of memory to get us to reflect on the memories that are most important to us. I don't believe she did it intentionally, but the way I thought about it made me remember my life just before the epidemic.
The history, design, and technological aspects of airplanes may be discussed at the beginning of the chapter. The development of aircraft, their effects on society and transportation, and their various varieties may be the main points of discussion. As Miranda was stuck in Asia and unable to board an airplane to return home, airplanes in the next chapters represented the end of the world. However, after Arthur's death, they were able to reach him in Canada.
