 “Clark had never followed the news very closely and had actually heard about the flu only the day before the flight, in a brief newspaper story about a mysterious outbreak of some virus in Paris, and it hadn’t been at all clear that it was developing into a pandemic.”

 

I chose this quote because it reminded me of the importance of news during the COVID-19 pandemic and how it has lifted our awareness.

 

 

“Can you tell us more about the … well, about what people should be looking out for, the symptoms?” the newscaster asked.

“Same things we see every flu season,” the epidemiologist said, “just worse.”

 

I chose this quote because it reminded me of the questions I was asking during the COVID-19 pandemic. I had the same questions and didn't understand the answers in the news at that time. I think because the disease was recent, and we didn't have all the information about it yet.

 

 

Discussion Questions

 

Beginning with optimism, Clark thinks back on his apparent prior life's experiences. He constantly sought refuge in his history when circumstances were dire. Looking at things from the past and appreciating them are what makes him happy right now. He takes care of the civilization museum, which is now preserving many artifacts from earlier times. And Jeevan is married to a lady named Daria, and the couple currently shares a motel that has been abandoned. via her and his friends, Jeevan has discovered a reason to live. Many people in Jeevan's community rely on him as their doctor. He is happy with his.

 

Because it evokes nostalgia in those who have experienced it, the Museum of Civilization is significant to the people who live near the airport. The past is also taught to the children through this. Anything like newspapers has sentimental value because knowledge is limited, and knowledge is valuable. It is valuable, but not in the same sense that food is. Everything in my bedroom, as well as any posters and artwork, would be a part of my personal Museum of Civilization. I would like to have photos and dog paw prints of my pets. More than anything else, it would resemble the Museum of Miranda. 

 

Given that they are aware of the type of world they live in, it was a bad choice. In addition, they encountered a hostile group of individuals who are probably to blame for these individuals' disappearances. Instead of stopping to look for them, they ought to have continued their way. However, putting my future spouse, children, or extended family in danger would be worth it. The question "Where do you draw this line?" isn't a good one, to be honest. Even while it may raise the hypothetical question, the answer won't come until you are forced to make the difficult decision to put everyone else in risk in order to save someone. 

 

The group members, including Kristen, survive. When they successfully kill the criminals, Kristen receives yet another knife tattoo that symbolizes a successful killing. When August made his first kill, he was in disbelief. That he didn't have to kill for the first 20 years is a miracle. Because she allowed herself to pass away, Kristen has reason for optimism. Being able to impart knowledge gave the prophet hope.
